Day 38 Part 3 - Studying Strategic Problems from Strategy 3.0

What Did I Do?

I studied 0.25 hour strategic problems (Theory).

Coach´s Advice

I still continue to use my coach´s advice:

1. Use a real board to study strategic problems.

2. Study strategic problems every day.

What I Have Learned

Chess Strategy 3.0 Course

Isolated Queen Pawn

Playing methods with an isolated pawn

— When playing with an isolated pawn, its often an idea to make a breakthrough just

moving it forward to get dynamic possibilities for your pieces.

— The attack on the King side is effective with the support of a Night on e5. There are

2 varieties of this attack: piece attack, often with an attached Rook on the 3rd rank, and

piece and pawn attack with the participation of the f-pawn.

— Progress of an isolated pawn with the aim of fixing the opponents pawn on the next

file.

— Use of an open c-file. The party which has an isolated pawn, as a rule, chooses the

center and King side as their field of active operations. However, sometimes active

operations on the Queen side are also possible with the use of the open c-file.

Time Spent: 16 minutes and 45 seconds.

Total tasks studied: 5
